The task of Churches Together in South London is to make connections between denominations and local churches across the area and to promote mission, unity and compassion in Christ's name.
Faith in action together
All across South London, churches are involved in community action, working with and for people in need of support. Food banks, credit unions, debt advice, community cafes, bereavement counselling, support for sport, children's play schemes etc are just some of the ways in which Christians put their faith in action, often working with others of different faiths or none to make a difference in society. Churches Together in South London (CTSL) rejoices at this range of activity and offers support where it can to encourage those already involved or thinking of doing something. At its Council on 20 May, representatives of a number of these initiatives made presentations and answered questions on what they do. In this way, CTSL aimed to highlight the range of work done in Christ's name and to encourage more to be involved.

Bible verses that support faith in action....
When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him.....and the righteous will say `When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and gave you a drink? When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you into our homes or naked and clothe you? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth: whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me'.
The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25 verses 31-32 and 37-40
......... and a prayer
Lord, make us instruments of your will.
Give us
the humility to admit our wrongdoing
the courage to stand for what is right
the determination to fight for the poor and oppressed
and the faith to believe that with you all things are possible,
through Christ our Lord.
Amen
